Dave Boelio, the newest member of the New Horizons tuba lineup, plays with the Symphonic Band and Brasso Profundo. Dave grew up in a Detroit suburb, where he played tuba in high school. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Dave pursued a career in educational publishing. Along the ???way, he began playing the tuba again, first in various ensembles in New Jersey, then in community bands in the Capital Region, and most recently with the Pittsford Fire Department Band in the Rochester area.
Dave has had the good fortune to study with several masters of the instrument, including Jeremy Stoner of Nazareth College. He is inspired by his wife Marsha, who is a dedicated chorister and also the founder of the Rochester chapter of Threshold Singers. Since moving to Henrietta in 2015, Dave has acquired a love for Western New York. Now retired, he is an active volunteer, gardener, and biker. Cementing his ties to the area, his younger daughter Lisa and her family make their home in Pittsford, where she practices veterinary medicine. |
