Serena Reuten is a "rising star" flautist and conductor who directs the Rochester New Horizons String Orchestra. She will soon receive an MMA in Orchestral Conducting from the Eastman School of Music.
Serena has a passion for music and a deep desire to bring communities together. As an undergraduate at the University of Ottawa she conducted performances with the Parkdale Orchestra and covered rehearsals for conductors of various ensembles including the Ewashko Singers and the Ottawa Pops Orchestra. She has a Bachelor of Music from the University of Ottawa, and a Master of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Montr??al. The CBC named Serena to their 2023 "Top 30 Classical Musicians Under 30" list. Serena has been heavily involved with the Ottawa Pops Orchestra, as one of the original members and substitute conductor. She has also held the position of Bernhard Gueller Conducting Fellow with Symphony Nova Scotia. She worked with the Winnipeg Symphony in the 2023 RBC Emerging Conductors Showcase and the National Arts Center Orchestra in the 2022 ???Play it Forward?? mentorship program. After receiving her Eastman degree, Serena will be pursuing a DMA in Orchestral Conducting. |
