| Ray Zheng is a flutist from Ottawa Canada who started playing the flute when he was thirteen years old. Throughout his education, he has had the privilege of collaborating with world-renowned conductors, including Gustavo Gimeno and Alexander Shelly, and Alain Trudel.
Ray has been nurtured by and worked with esteemed flutists such as Mathieu Dufour, Robert Langevin, Lorna McGhee and Michael Cox. In recent times, he had the privilege of participating in the National Academy Orchestra of Canada.
In 2022, Ray had the privilege of performing a solo concerto with the Toronto Chamber Symphony (TCS) and in January 2024, Ray won the second prize of the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra concerto competition. In April 2024, Ray won the Vic Pomer Prize at the National Arts Centre Bursary Competition and in July 2024, Ray was award second prize at the Ottawa Chamberfest Rising Star competition.
Ray completed his Bachelor of Music in Performance under the expert guidance of Nora Shulman at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Music. Currently, he is furthering his studies at the Eastman School of Music in the studio of Bonita Boyd. |
