My family left New York City in 1944 and moved to Chicago, where I lived until relocating in 1985 with my wife and son to Rochester. I graduated from the University of Illinois in 1962, served in the Navy in Norfolk, Virginia from 1964 to 1966, and graduated from the University of Chicago in 1968. I retired in 2007 after 38 years as a developer of affordable housing.

I am addicted to classical music, and have a large collection of symphonic music and French and German opera. I enjoy cooking French and Italian food for my wife and myself. I am also an active ???ham????? and am daily on the air with amateur radio operators around the world.

In 1990 I unsuccessfully tried to learn to play the flute, and it went into storage on a shelf until 2010 when a Concert Band friend urged me to join the Green Band; I took his advice and have now been in the Band for three years. I also take lessons from a private teacher.

The Green Band, with its experienced conductors, provides the beginner an opportunity for ensemble playing and the continuous challenge of improving one's musicianship. My participation in the New Horizons program allowed me to play in the New Horizons band in San Jose, California.
